He was born on January 9, 1942 in McKeesport, PA, the oldest son of Francis and Ruth Diegelman. Larry joined the Air Force in January 1960, retiring 23 years later as a Captain with multiple awards and honors to his credit plus a college degree in management. His career path in civilian life was in the field of information technology; retiring once again after working for five years in the IT Department at Texas State University.
