The quest for a second straight district championship came up short for San Marcos Academy as the Bears fell to district rival the San Antonio Castle Hills Eagles 46-42.
Texas State opened up 2023-2024 on the right foot as the Bobcats defeated the Arlington Baptist Patriots, 90-48, in front of the home crowd faithful.
Though many people thought this was going to be a rebuilding year for the Texas State volleyball program, the Bobcats reminded everyone that the Sun Belt West Division title still runs through San Marcos.
Facing the regular season champions and undefeated South Alabama did not deter Texas State. The Bobcats battled to the end in a 2-1 setback to Wednesday night in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Championship from the Foley Sports Complex.
The Rattlers fell to East Central, 45-21, in a game that was much closer than the final score. The Rattlers opened up the game with a 14-6 lead but weren’t able to regain it after a 15-0 run from the Hornets before halftime.
The Bobcats will once again go to make history as Texas State hosts Georgia Southern in hopes of earning the first six-win season and qualify for a bowl game.
