Silverio was a devout Catholic and was a member of St, John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He was employed for over 30 years at Hays County Gravel. Silverio was well known from his many years at Big Papa’s Club. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and spent his retirement years doing small engine repair and mowing lawns.
In 1958, he married the love of his life, Guadalupe Cruz. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last year. Together they raised three children, Mario, Elvira, and Carlos.
Silverio was preceded in death by his wife, Lupe, his parents, and his brothers, Sacarias, Miguel, and Marcelino. He is survived by his brothers, Nicolas, Vicente, and Paul, his sisters, Josefena, Maria Luisa, and Mary. He is also survived by his children, Mario Garza (Lisa), Elvira Loredo (Chris), and Carlos Garza (Melinda), grandchildren, Sonya Gutierrez (Joseph), Roberto Carlos Loredo, Michael Moncada, and Adrianna Cordova (Manny). Silverio is also survived by seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Thomason Funeral Chapel on Monday, July 29, 2019 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., with the Holy Rosary to be recited by, the Deacon Robert Gutierrez, at St. John’s Catholic Church at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at the St. John’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at 10 a.m., with Father Jairo Lopez officiating. The Burial will follow at the Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale, Texas.
Pallbearers include Richard Cruz, Frank Moreno, Frank Cruz Jr., Edward Perez, Ernest Gonzales, and Steve Moreno. Honorary Pallbearers include Abel Cruz and Cande Garza.
