Allen was married to Norma Ann Moos from Bulverde, TX on Feb. 6, 1952. In addition to Norma, he is survived by three sons, Dennis Dietert (and spouse Judy) of Staples, TX, Larry Dietert of Staples, TX, and Rickie Dietert (and spouse Sheri) of Grapevine, TX; as well as 5 grandchildren Cliff (and spouse Jessica), Travis (and spouse Julie), Dustin (and spouse Erica), Allison, and Eric; and 5 great grandchildren (Taylor, Lindsay, JR, Marcus, Lexi).
Allen grew up on the family homestead in Zorn, TX and attended the local Dietert School. He graduated from Seguin High School in 1946 and later served in the Army as a medical technician during the Korean Conflict after training at Fort Sam Houston. After returning from his military service, Allen worked at the San Marcos Hospital, while also farming and ranching the family farms at Zorn and Staples TX. Allen also operated a commercial grain harvesting business for many years, traveling all across Texas.
Allen loved music and played saxophone in the local Dietert Polka Orchestra and American Legion band, performing at many local halls, including Gruene Hall, SaengerHalle, Anhalt, and Clear Springs Hall, as well as numerous other venues. He also enjoyed spending time with his family hunting, fishing, and traveling, as well as playing dominoes and cards with friends.
Allen’s life will be celebrated with a visitation at Pennington Funeral Home in San Marcos, TX on Thursday April 18, from 5-7 p.m., and burial services will take place on Friday April 19 at 2 p.m. at the Staples TX Cemetery (310 Park Avenue). Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
