64, of Austin, TX passed away peacefully on July 9, 2024. Born February 15, 1960 in Athens, OH from the late Charles Hawk and Bernice Whitfield. He was preceded in death by his parents Bernice Whitfield and Charles Hawk, sisters Brenda and Becky, niece Rhonda. Charles(Chuck) was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, nephew and friend. He is survived by his cherished wife of 27 years, Gail Martin and daughter Amber Nolasco(husband Juan), and his 5 grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Ryan Medrano, Kaleah Medrano, Evan Nolasco, Averly Nolasco and Amoura Nolasco. His grandchildren were his life and would do anything for them. Charles is also survived by his brother Jim Kay (wife Ann), and sister Cheryl, brother Donald Hawk, his niece Dr.Marlyn Young (husband Matthew), nephew Jay Kay(wife Nicole), many other nieces and nephews and many many dear friends. A graduate of high school, Charles went on to earn a culinary certification. He worked for over three decades between Kerry Lane Cafe and Magnolia Cafe South bringing both a wonderful meal and a warm conversation to each table. At Magnolia Cafe South he was known for his dedication, expertise, mentorship and a bright smile. Charleā€™s love for his family was evident in everything he did. He not only shared his world famous onion rings and chicken fried steak with friends, his table was always open to a stranger who might be down on their luck. His passion for cooking opened the world where everyone was welcome. Charles was an active member of the Magnolia Cafe community, volunteering his time to listen to anyone that came through the door. His kindness, generosity and unwavering spirit touched the lives of many.
