A proud graduate of Sweeny High School in 1977, Byron’s thirst for knowledge and commitment to service led him to further his education at Southwest Texas State University, where he graduated in 1981. His dedication to the community was evident through his remarkable tenure of more than 37 years with the San Marcos Police Department, where he returned to serve for an additional three years after his initial retirement. His sister, Ruth, brother, Kim, niece, Brandy and her husband Chris, and nephew, Chris, also hold precious memories of Byron’s kindness and warmth. The extended Mobley family, vast and close-knit, will forever cherish the moments they shared with Byron. An avid sports fan, Byron’s passion for the LSU Tigers and the Dallas Cowboys was surpassed only by his love for fishing and golfing in the serene landscapes of South Dakota with his best bud Bill. Yet, it was in the simple, everyday moments spent raising his children that Byron found his greatest joy and purpose. Those who had the privilege of knowing Byron were touched by his loving nature and his innate ability to put others before himself.
