Walter Scott McCaskill January 6, 1963 - April 5, 2024

Walter Scott McCaskill

. Choctaw Indian of Charleston Family Wolf Clan of the Western Band of the Greater Choctaw Nation.

Scott McCaskill was born to Wanda Jean and Ed McCaskill in the small farming community of Carthage, Texas, on January 6, 1963.

Scott and his brother Mike spent many happy summers on their Grandparent’s ranch in that community.

Scott went to school in San Marcos starting in junior high and graduated from San Marcos High School, returning to teach in San Marcos for the next twenty plus years. He not only loved the area of Wimberley and San Marcos but also the Hill Country and its many rivers and streams. And he loved his students.

Scott Passed away at 7:08 P.M. Friday, April 5, 2024, at the age of sixty-one due to a tragic motorcycle accident.

This was a man of many names: Son, Father, Brother, Teacher, Mr. McCaskill, Scott, Uncle, Friend Scott, and Scotty Boy. Friends probably describe him best.

He was easy to like and could hold your attention while balancing a chair on his chin. He loved to tell dumb jokes just to get the reaction. His passion was fishing. He would gladly go out of his way to help others, which he did on many occasions. Mr. Mc-Caskill taught school in San Marcos for over twenty years, retiring to fish and be with his father, his three sons, and close friends.

Scott McCaskill is survived by his Father Ed, his brother Mike and Scott’s sons Max, Zackary, and Rex, and his ever so close extended family of Joe Eliaz, Carol, daughters Brenna, Claire, and Lilly.

We feel secure in the thought that this American Indian, Scott, is with his Lord and his Mother, Jean (Nana).

Chi Pisa La Chike - “Until we meet again” Service will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 10:00a.m. at First Presbyterian Church 410 W. Hutchinson St., San Marcos, Texas.
