Jim was born in Auburn, Nebraska on September 11, 1928, to William and Gertrude Weber. He grew up with his parents and younger brother Wayne on the family farm. After graduating high school, Jim enrolled at the University of Texas in Austin, and joined the ROTC program there. Jim married Virginia Lou Garrison on September 10, 1950.

Upon graduation from UT, Jim was commissioned as an officer in the USAF and began pilot training.

As a command pilot in the USAF, Jim flew numerous types of aircraft. The majority of his time was spent as a member of the Strategic Air Command (SAC) where he was an aircraft commander flying the KC135 tanker worldwide, including several tours in the arctic circle and in support of the Southeast Asia conflict. He also flew the B-52 bomber during his time as a maintenance commander. Jim retired as the base commander at Dyess AFB, Texas on February 23, 1979, after nearly 28-1/2 years of service.

After retirement, Jim and Ginny spent several years in Rockport, Texas where he was able to enjoy one of his greatest pastimes, sailing his sailboat, the Reverie.

After Rockport, they moved to San Marcos, Texas. They also spent many years traveling the country in their RV.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, his beloved Ginny, and one son, Steven Thomas Weber. He is survived by one daughter, Lou Ann Harris (Donald), and sons Jim Weber (Laura), Scott Weber (Esmeralda), and John Weber (Belinda). He is also survived by his brother Wayne Weber, daughter- in-law Shirley Weber, sister-in-law T-Nell West, grandchildren Laura- Ann (Russell), Olivia (Duncan), Carissa, John, and Julia, and two great grandchildren Owen Peightal and Ella Rose Shockley.
