Alicia Gloria Luna
Alicia Gloria Luna
Alicia Gloria (Guzman) Luna, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2024, at the age of 91 in Kyle, Texas.
Alicia was the third child, born to Hortencia (Silva) and Ramon Guzman, in Laredo, Texas on September 30, 1932.
Alicia met the love of her life, Cristobal 'Cris' Edmundo Luna, Sr. while attending Laredo Junior High. Both graduated in 1950 from Laredo's Martin High and married on June 22, 1952. Cris enlisted in the U. S. Air Force to serve his country and 'see the world.' Alicia and Cris travelled and resided in England, Texas, Florida, Nebraska, and Georgia. When Cris completed his military career, the family settled in San Marcos, Texas in 1970.
During their marriage, they were blessed with a family of six boys and five girls - Cris Jr., Ramon, Ana, Henry, Maria, Norma, Gloria, Tony, John, Joe, and Cecilia. Alicia's family has always been extremely devoted and protective of each other and there was never a dull moment in the Luna household.
Alicia was preceded in death by her father, Ramon Guzman, her mother, Hortencia Silva Guzman, sisters, Olga Charles and Hortencia Santos, her husband, Cristobal E. Luna Sr., and sons, Rusty Helsley, Henry Luna, Tony Luna, Ramon Luna, and daughter Vicki Luna, as well as other beloved relatives and dear friends.
Alicia is survived by Cris (Mina) Luna, Jr., Ana (Ron) Hixon, Maria (John) Bertucci, Norma Helsley, Gloria (Oscar Flores) Luna, John (Nancy) Luna, Joe Luna, and Cecilia (David) Perkins, 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Words are not enough to describe Alicia Luna. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was kind, generous, decent, intelligent, a faithful woman of God, an amazing cook, and loved her crafts. She was cherished and beloved by everyone who knew or met her.
Alicia not only did it right, but she also did it with an abundance of class. Alicia lived with humility and charity and raised her children to follow her example. She had a love for Nativity Scenes which brought her a collection from all over the world and in all sizes. She loved doing arts and crafts which included making intricate and ornate keepsake Christmas Stockings for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends.
In her final days, two stories resonate about her love and faith are: Alicia told her daughter that she will finally get to meet her father for the first time, due to his passing prior to her birth. Alicia was ready to join her loved ones in heaven. As was typical of Alicia, she also insisted that those with birthdays this month got their birthday cards and gifts. Alicia always put her family first, even during her waning days. Traditionally, she requested that money be transferred to her granddaughter for her wedding cake, whose wedding will take place later this year. Alicia never put herself first her entire life, but she finished in first place on arriving to her heavenly resting place.
Alicia's Family would like to extend sincere gratitude to all her healthcare providers, which are too numerous to name, for their care and attentiveness throughout the years. She always spoke very highly of her caregivers and rewarded them with tokens of appreciation.
A celebration of her life will begin on Friday, February 16, 2024, from 4 to 7 PM at Thomason Funeral Home, 2001 Old Ranch Road 12, San Marcos, TX 78666. A Rosary and Eulogy will follow at 7 PM. February 11, 2024, will always be a difficult day for the Luna Family, but it will remain a glorious day of long, overdue heavenly reunions. Her family feels the peace and beauty that radiates from the heavens above.
