Richard Gonzales Lopez

Richard G “Rick” Lopez passed from this life on Feb. 20, 2019 at the age of 54 after a lengthy illness.

He was born on Oct. 7, 1964 in San Angelo, TX to Adan Lopez and Lorenza Gonzales Lopez. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ruben Lopez and Eloy Lopez and a brother-in-law, Tony Serna. He is survived by two brothers Adam (Liz) Lopez Jr. and Alex (Stella) Lopez; four sisters, Janie Rodriguez, Idalia (David) Manrique, Rosalinda (Ben) Villagomez and Ida Serna; sister-in-law, Melissa Garcia Lopez and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rick was a servant to the people of the Great State of TX. He was employed by the Health and Human Services Commission — mail services division for 22 years.

Rick was an avid Houston Texans fan. He also loved watching the TX Longhorns, Houston Astros and the San Antonio Spurs. As a young man he loved to play basketball with his older brother, Ruben. They were nicknamed “The Twin Towers” because no one could get past them.

Rick will be dearly missed by his family and friends, including his best friend/ girlfriend, Irene Zapata-Lopez. We will always be grateful for all the special times we each shared with him.

A Rosary will be recited on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church 500 E Travis Luling, TX. A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Rev. Goertz will be at 11 a.m. A reception at St. John’s Parish Hall will follow.

A special thank you to Legend Oaks Healthcare and Heart to Heart Hospice for their tender loving care of our brother. Cremation was under the direction of Heart of TX Cremation.
