Dean Kinsey
Dean Kinsey
Dean was born on June 27, 1932, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, to Herb and Mary Kinsey. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in History from Southern Missionary College, in Collegedale, Tennessee, and his Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Boston College. On March 18, 1995, Dean married Dolores Sonntag. His two sons, Scott in Florida and Rick in Arkansas survive him. Dean has two grandchildren, Kameron and Brooke. His brother, Glen, lives in Pennsylvania.
Dean spent 36 years of his career in education, both in the classroom and in administration. After moving to San Marcos, Texas, he worked with financial planning for the last 18 years of his professional life.
The Seventh-day Adventist church meant so much to Dean and Dolores. He ministered as a deacon, an elder, and Sabbath School teacher, and many other jobs needed to create a viable church community. When it came to his faith, Dean was always ready to share what he loved most, his Creator, Jesus.
Dean was known for his quick wit, kind smile and compassion towards others. You could always find him puttering in his yard full of Texas wildflowers or bicycling the many back roads of the Texas foothills. He loved photography and writing, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Dean and Dolores experienced their world first hand. Whether cruising on European rivers or riding on an elephants in Thailand, Dean and Dolores took the tiger by the tail. Countries like Russia, Panama, Turkey, Mexico, plus many other places, will forever be a part of his life remembrances.
There will be visitation on Monday, Feb. 18, 2019, at Legends Chapel, 107 Centerpoint Road, in San Marcos, from 6 until 8p.m. We look forward to seeing you.
