Jim Bob Spencer
Jim Bob and Lisa retired to San Marcos in May of 2007. As part of an extensive remodel, a 2-car garage was converted into Jim Bob’s ceramic studio where he created coil-built ceramic sculptures with imaginative textures and colorations. Jim Bob rapidly made many wonderful friends due to his humor and ability to tell a story that made everyone laugh. He welcomed everyone into his home with graciousness and always with humor. Jim Bob loved the San Marcos community.
After graduating from Texas A & M as a civil engineer, Jim Bob spent two years in Germany as an officer serving in the US Army Corp of Engineers in Germany during the Vietnam Era. This was followed by a 38 year engineering career. During this time, he obtained an MFA in Ceramics from George Washington University after which he taught Decoration, Advanced Decoration, Glaze Formulation and Calculation at GWU. Exhibits include The Dimock Gallery in Washington DC as well as The Joann Cole Mitte Building at Texas State University.
