Dale Frank Haney

Dale Haney, devoted husband of Maria E. (Richey) Haney left this world to be with our Lord the evening of Sunday November 8th 2020 at his residence in San Marcos Texas.

He is the son of Frank L. Haney and Sandra L. (Hammond) Haney of Ipava, Illinois. He was a graduate of VIT High School in Table Grove IL., class of 1976. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Husbandry from Western Illinois University in Macomb IL. His early life was filled with a love of animals and agriculture enjoying sports, shooting, and motorcycles as hobbies. Dale’s sense of wit, loud laugh and variety of facial expressions made quick friends. He was the life of many family gatherings. He was the center of attention whether it be putting up hay, or playing football and baseball with his friends in the small town of Ipava where he grew up.

After earning his degree, he lived in Iowa and Missouri. He and his horse Scout found their way to Texas following his muse of Animals and Agriculture. Dale found his soulmate, Maria, in San Marcos. After Maria found her engagement ring hidden at the bottom of a large box disguised as a Christmas gift, they were married March 13, 1984 in San Marcos. He found a home here with Maria in San Marcos and worked many years at the Hays County Sheriff’s office as Certified Corrections Officer, eventually retiring after 30 + years of service. He & Maria enjoyed the home they made with 4 dogs (Jake, Sadie, Oso, Cody) & 1 cat (Precious).

He is preceded in death by his father Frank Haney of Colchester Illinois, grandparents Charles and Maxine Haney also of Colchester IL. and Glenn and Lena Hammond of Ipava IL.

He is survived by his wife Maria, mother Sandra (Hammond) Haney, Dean Haney (brother) & wife Cynthia, Emily & Zachary (niece and nephew) of Buda Texas, Mary (Haney) BonDurant (sister) & her husband Bob of Divernon IL., Carl Haney (brother) & his wife Shawn and nephews Camden. Calvin & Felix of Normal IL.

He was a loving husband of Maria, cherished son, a beloved brother, good friend to many, he will be sorely missed and remembered by all who knew him.

Visitation will be at Pennington Funeral Home in San Marcos, Tx from 7pm-9pm on Monday, November 16, 2020.

Services to be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 1906 N. IH 35, San Marcos Tx at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov 17 2020.

Memorial donations can be made to Paws Animal Rescue of Kyle Texas in lieu of floral arrangements if preferred.
