She was an independent woman of small stature with a fiery spirit who al ways stood out wherever she was. Maria greeted everyone she met with a warm smile & her vivacious personality. As a young girl growing up in Seguin, she was able to attend school only a short time but was a very intelligent woman. She was not afraid to voice an opinion at a time when women were discouraged to voice anything at all. She was a survivor and a tenacious fighter having endured much hardship in her life. She was a single parent having to work multiple jobs in order to support her children. She loved attending family get-togethers & events, dancing, music, and wearing hats as part of her unique style. She was a devoted mother & grandmother. She loved watching football and was an ardent fan of the UT Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys. She was a devout Catholic with her rosary beads never far from her grasp .Despite her financial limitations she gave what she had, her heart- the simplest and yet richest gift of all. She always ended a phone call with her family by saying “Love you”.
