Rotary Club of Greater San Marcos celebrates 34th anniversary

Sunday, December 1, 2019

The Rotary Club of Greater San Marcos (known as the Friday Club) was chartered on Nov. 1, 1985. The club held a “Founding Celebration” on Nov. 22, 2019. Four charter members were in attendance and each was asked to ring the bell to open the celebration. The club was sponsored by the Rotary Club of San Marcos (known as the Wednesday Club). Lance Winter, president of the Wednesday Club joined the Friday Club for the celebration. John Garrison, a charter member, and now member of the Rotary Club of College Station kept everyone laughing with his program on Random Rotary Reflections. The Rotary International Theme back in 1985-86 was You Are the Key. The four charter members present today certainly are the key to our success as a club and two are still current members, Ronald Brown and Clay Sullivan. A third, Phil Wilbur of Austin, visits us often, continuing to share the spirit and object of Rotary with us when he can. Daily Record photos by Lance Winter
