Texas State to hold lecture on  'Democracy Through the Rule of Law'

A former magistrate for the Federal Electoral Commission of Mexico will deliver a lecture at Texas State University on Thursday. 

Manuel González Oropeza, a professor of law and former magistrate for the Federal Electoral Commission of Mexico, will present a lecture, "Democracy Through the Rule of Law" inside Derrick Hall, room 108, from 4-6 p.m. 

Oropeza will speak on the current state of legislative affairs in Mexico and the United States. Oropeza is a researcher at the Institute for Legal Research at the National University of Mexico and a professor and supervisor of the graduate division in the School of Law, at the same university. His publications are concentrated in areas such as legal history, constitutional law, comparative law and electoral law.

The event is sponsored by the Center for International Studies, College of Liberal Arts, Department of Anthropology, Center for Diversity and Gender Studies, Department of Geography, Department of History, Department of Philosophy, Department of Political Science, Department of English, Department of Sociology and the Center for the Study of the Southwest.
