Sales teams take high honors at international competition

Seven Texas State University students recently represented The Center for Professional Sales from the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University at the 12th Annual International Collegiate Sales Competition held in Orlando, Florida, from Nov. 1 to 5. The students are Ashley Zamponi, Bryson Moore, Miceala Tejada, Ashlyn McGaughan, Guillermo Olvera, Molly Akers and Josh Posey.

Seven Texas State University students recently represented The Center for Professional Sales from the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University at the 12th Annual International Collegiate Sales Competition held in Orlando, Florida, from Nov. 1 to 5. The students are Ashley Zamponi, Bryson Moore, Miceala Tejada, Ashlyn McGaughan, Guillermo Olvera, Molly Akers and Josh Posey.

The event was hosted by Florida State University, a member of the University Sales Center Alliance. The mission of the competition is to develop critical sales skills needed by today’s sales graduates and foster best practices among sales organizations worldwide.

Ashley Zamponi, a member of the TXST Speed Selling Team, was awarded first place, surpassing students from around the world. There were over 160 competitors in this event.

Also, contributing to the team’s overall point totals were Ashlyn McGaughan and Guillermo Olvera. Each competitor in the final round had 90 seconds to give Tom James Professional Clothiers, specific reasons why they would be the best choice for a sales position.

Tom James is the world’s premier provider of custom- made clothing.

The Role Play team, Bryson Moore and Miceala Tejada, finished in 6th Runner-Up, out of 80 universities. Garnering a semi-final round Role Play appearance was Bryson Moore. Micaela Tejada advanced deep into the Quarter Final Round. The scenarios dealt with DLL, a major commercial financing company, providing a comprehensive financing program for sales technologies by a potential customer called Assured Partners, a highly regarded insurance broker in the United States and abroad.

The Sales Management Case Competition team of Molly Akers and Josh Posey finished strong in the Sales Management Case Competition as well. They were tasked with providing numerous solutions to an organization’s sales team. The company that the competitors were presenting to is Rexel, a French company that distributes electrical, heating, lighting, and plumbing products.

The coaches of the sales teams, Wayne Noll, Dr. Adyta Gupta, Derrek Schartz and Graduate Assistant Monique Sevin, had this to say about their sales competitors: “Our students have a tremendous work ethic, great attitude and are very competitive. We knew they would be ready!”

Moore, Tejada, Mc-Gaughan, Olvera, Zamponi, Akers and Josh Posey, had this to say about their experience: “The opportunity to be a part of a selling team from the Mc-Coy College of Business is truly an honor. Being able to continue the tradition of performing at the highest level is extremely inspirational. We are so thankful for the support of the Center for Professional Sales. The opportunities for our future employment has been greatly enhanced by this unforgettable experience. We are so grateful.”
