The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for San Marcos and most of Central Texas, beginning at 10 p.m. tonight and stretching through 9 a.m. Tuesday.
The NWS states that portions of south central Texas will see sub-freezing temperatures as low as 22 degrees overnight. A hard freeze is likely in some places in the Hill Country, the NWS added.
“Clear skies and calm winds will lead to a cold night with temperatures dropping to freezing or below tonight,” the NWS said in a tweet. “This will be the first freeze of the season for many places.”

The NWS stated that frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possible damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
“Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold,” the NWS said. “To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above- ground pipes to protect them from freezing.”
