Munoz is named as interim HR chief

San Marcos CISD Superintendent Dr. Michael Cardona recently announced that Stephanie Munoz will serve as the new San Marcos CISD interim chief of human resources.

San Marcos CISD Superintendent Dr. Michael Cardona recently announced that Stephanie Munoz will serve as the new San Marcos CISD interim chief of human resources.

Munoz is the current executive director of human resources for San Marcos CISD.

Since joining San Marcos CISD in 2017, as its Human Resources executive director, Munoz launched many of the district’s employee recognition and customer service initiatives that still thrive today–the ‘Zero Cost Employee Assistance Program, which offers zero cost to the employee with counseling, legal advice, and SafeRide.

The annual gala recognizes employees who are retiring from the district and have years of service, and the district’s recruitment partnership with Texas State University hiring and supporting Student Teacher Residents. The Employee Tuition Reimbursement Program, supports all staff earning a college education, the annual Employee Health and Wellness Fair, Substitute/ Guest Teacher Recognition Program, which celebrates the support each of these employees provides to students. The entire human resources team visits campuses to offer on-site support.

“I am passionate about hiring the right people to lead the work that changes student outcomes, the work that each role leads is essential to the growth of our district,” Munoz said. “Our focus has to be on hiring talented, appreciated, and wellequipped team of educators– teachers, nurses, librarians, campus leaders, bus drivers, child nutrition professionals, custodians, support personnel –these individuals are what make a school district run and the thread that connects us to the university and the community. I believe in San Marcos CISD!”

Prior to working with San Marcos CISD, Munoz was a Human Resources trainer, Human Resources specialist for the Gary Job Corps Center.

Munoz holds a bachelor of arts in Psychology and a minor in Business Administration from Texas State University in San Marcos, and a master of science degree in Human Resources Development from the University of Texas at Tyler.

Munoz is also working toward her Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership at Abilene Christian University at Abilene.

She is a proud Rattler graduate who calls San Marcos home.

Munoz replaces the previous HR chief who accepted a promotion in another district.
