Jingle Bell Run takes over downtown San Marcos

Downtown San Marcos was full of runners, joggers and walkers Saturday morning as more than 1,000 participants took part in the Jingle Bell 5K and Kids K. 

This year’s 5K course took participants through the square, historic district and finished on C.M. Allen Pkwy with 75 speakers located around the race route blasting Christmas music. 

Allison Donohue, of Austin, was the first female competitor to cross the finish line with a time of 20:22.

Ty Cervantes, a Texas State University graduate student, crossed the finish line in first place with a time of 18:10. Allison Donohue, of Austin, was the first woman to finish with a time of 20:22.

Mr. Grinch wanted to steal the race by taking off before the start.

Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause walk the race.
