The locally popular First Tuesday SMTX Film Series returns today for a screening of a film that has Central Texas in it name and being.
The screening of 'A Song For You: The Austin City Limits Story,' will be shown at The Price Center, 222 W. San Antonio St., with doors opening at 6:15 p.m.
For those coming early, there will be pizza and beer starting at 6:30 p.m.
The film starts promptly at 7 p.m.
In attendance will be the film's director Keith Maitland, who will be joined by Dr. Jason Mellard, from Texas State University's Center for Texas Music History. The two will join in a Q&A at the event.
The film, according to a press release, is 'packed wall to wall with the greatest music from Texas and beyond.' The film features performances by Willie Nelson, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Ray Charles, Beck, Alabama Shakes, Wilco, Pixies and Radiohead.
For those interested in coming out, the film will offer a glimpse at a story many think they know but not all of the intricacies of what constitutes a keen portrait of the Austin music scene.
The film series organizers emphasized that this film 'highlights the PBS series' evolution, proving that after 40 years, Austin City Limits is more relevant now than ever before.'
'Variety' in its review of the film called it 'an entertaining tribute to the longest-running music show in American TV history.'
Those attending the screening should keep in mind that Texas State University is back in session and make plans to find suitable parking and to get to The Price Center with enough time to spare.
The summer series of films had regularly heavy crowds in attendance.
Organizers said the decision to keep the film series a regular first Tuesday of the month event was based in large part to the positive response by the community to films shown this summer.
