CTMC President steps down

 CTMC President steps down

Regional CEO for AdventHealth Penny Jonson announced Friday that Anthony Stahl, president and CEO of Central Texas Medical Center, accepted a position as president of Adventist HealthCare-White Oak Medical Center in Silver Spring, Maryland, effective March 9.

“Anthony has been an extremely effective and mission-focused president and CEO of CTMC since 2015, and I am grateful for his leadership,” Johnson said.

In an email, addressed to the hospital’s foundation board, Stahl said his time in San Marcos has been humbling.

“God works in such striking ways that I marvel at his timing and care,” Stahl said.

He said while the opportunity to serve in Maryland was unsolicited, he does believe that it’s an answer to prayer.

“I have a deep commitment to the Adventist church and its ministries and being able to continue my career with an Adventist hospital is a blessing,” he said. “My early career in international development allowed me to spend time in Maryland and my wife and I are thrilled to be reunited with our friends and past colleagues.”

Stahl congratulated the board and hospital team for their accomplishments over the years.

“I have watched you conquer so many ‘impossible tasks’ with effectiveness, calm and grace,” Stahl said. Stahl said working in San Marcos has been a humbling experience partnering with the foundation in a capital scarce environment.

“You demonstrate a high level of leadership and remain steadfast in your daily pursuit to care for our patients. The future for CTMC is bright. I shall miss each one of you,” he added.

Stahl has worked for CTMC since October of 2015. Dennis Kiley will serve as interim CEO until the transition is complete — expected April 1.

Stahl's resignation comes on the tails of AdventHealth announcing on Monday, Feb. 3 that CTMC will become part of the CHRISTUS Health System, following an agreement made between CHRISTUS and AdventHealth. The transaction is expected to be finished in the spring of 2020.
