Hays County Crime Stoppers is a nonprofit organization created in 1981 to assist local law enforcement in publicizing information about crimes and wanted fugitives by offering rewards for information leading to arrests and/or convictions. Its stated mission is to engage, educate and empower citizens, communities, businesses, schools, visitors, the media and law enforcement agencies in Hays County.

Hays County Crime Stoppers partners with the Hays County Sheriff’s Office, San Marcos Police Department, Kyle Police Department, Buda Police Department, Texas State University-San Marcos Police Department and the Hays County District Attorney’s Office. Hays County Crime Stoppers also partners with Hays Consolidated Independent School District and San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District to have campus crime stopper programs involved within their school districts. Campus Crime Stoppers help prevent potentially dangerous and illegal activity from taking place at school. Students can provide anonymous information regarding bullying, cyberbullying, self-inflicted harm, vandalism, sexual misconduct, stolen property, drugs and weapons through the tip lines.

Crime Stoppers guarantees and protects the anonymity of any information shared through the tip lines. Often those who witness a crime, see, or hear suspicious behavior or talk, or suspect someone of wrongdoing, will not reach out for fear of being further victimized, retaliation or having to appear in court. Crime Stoppers is set up to be 100% anonymous and confidential, giving every citizen the safety and freedom to make their community a better place to live.

If you have any information regarding any criminal activity, conduct or threatened conduct that constitutes a perceived danger to public safety, whether to an individual or a place, or information about a wanted person or their location, please contact Hays County Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-324-TIPS (8477), online at callcrimestoppers. com or by using the P3 Tips app on your smartphone. Information provided to Crime Stoppers that leads to an arrest may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
