County special services unit make narcotics arrest

The Hays County Sheriff’s Office Special Services Unit arrested a woman in connection to multiple charges following a narcotics investigation in March.

According to Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Andrews, the investigation centered on a residence in the 200 block of Dusky Thrush Drive in Kyle. Following surveillance, a primary suspect was identified as Janelle Renee Cano, 33, according to the press release. Deputies said that on March 28, Cano was stopped in her vehicle in connection to a violation of the Texas Transportation Code. At that time, deputies determined there was probable cause to search Cano’s vehicle during the traffic stop.

That search produced the following: 31.23 grams of methamphetamine, 31.23 grams of cocaine, 10.65 grams of Alprazolam (Xanax), 82.86 grams of Oxycodone Hydrochloride/ Acetaminophen, 233.48 grams of MDMA (Ecstasy), 211.52 grams of Fentanyl and 207.38 grams of Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine.

Deputies said a search warrant was applied for and granted through the 453rd District Court. The search warrant at Cano’s residence yielded additional narcotics and alleged evidence of drug distribution, deputies said. Recovered from the resident were: 55.4 grams of Fentanyl, 9.47 grams of cocaine, 42.0 grams of MDMA, and 4 grams of THC.

Cano was arrested and booked into the Hays County Jail on March 29 on the following charges: Manufacture/delivery of controlled substance penalty group 1 > = 4 grams < 200 g, felony 1, (methamphetamine); manufacture/delivery of controlled substance penalty group 1 > = 4 grams <200 grams, felony 1 (cocaine); manufacture/ delivery of controlled substance penalty group 3 < 28 grams, state jail felony (Alprazolam/Xanax); manufacture/delivery of controlled substance penalty group 1 > = 4 grams < 200 grams, felony 1, (Oxycodone Hydrochloride/ Acetaminophen); manufacture/delivery of controlled substance penalty group 2 > = 4 grams < 200 grams, felony 1, MDMA (Ecstasy); manufacture/delivery of controlled substance penalty group 1-B > 4 grams < 400 grams, felony 1, (Fentanyl); manufacture/ delivery of controlled substance penalty group 2 > = 4 grams < 400 grams, felony 1, (Amphetamine/ Dextroamphetamine); manufacture/delivery of controlled substance Penalty Group 1-B > = 4 grams< 200 grams, felony 1, (Fentanyl); manufacture/ delivery of controlled substance penalty group 1 > = 4 grams < 200 grams, felony 1, (cocaine); manufacture/ delivery of controlled substance penalty group 2 > = 4 grams < 400 g, felony 1, MDMA (Ecstasy); and possession of controlled substance PG 2 > = 1 grams < 4 grams, felony 3, (THC).

Bond was set at $395,000 and deputies said the investigation is ongoing. According to the sheriff’s office, additional charges are expected to be filed in the coming days, possible for two counts of endangering a child.
