City to hold public hearing on $1.4 mil of CDBG grant funds

The city of San Marcos City Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, June 4 at 6 p.m. during the City Council meeting at City Hall, 630 E. Hopkins St. The hearing will discuss the use of approximately $766,063 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding for housing, social services, public facilities, infrastructure, and project selection for the 20242025 CDBG Action Plan.

The city plans to reallocate an additional $655,089 from previous years equaling $1.4 million in funds, of which $153,213 is available for grant administration, $114,909 for social services, and $1.1 million for projects.

Beginning Friday, June 7, the City will have a public comment period before Council votes on allocating funding on August 5, 2024. Residents wishing to submit comments must do so in writing to City of San Marcos, Attn: CDBG Program, 630 E. Hopkins, San Marcos, Texas, 78666. Comments can also be sent via e-mail to cdbg@sanmarcostx.gov and must include the sender’s full name and contact information.

Copies of the draft action plan will be available on reserve at the San Marcos Public Library, 625 E Hopkins, and in the City Hall lobby. The plan draft can also be found on the City’s website at https://sanmarcostx. gov/3065/CDBG- Action-Plans during the comment period.
