It’s not often that an organization gets to celebrate a 100th Anniversary, but this year the League of Women Voters of Texas is proud to do just that. Born out of the women’s suffrage movement of the early 1900s, the League of Women Voters of Texas was formed in October 1919 to continue their work: educating, supporting and protecting voter’s rights in Texas.
Join us to commemorate the 100th Anniversary at our annual fundraising event. The 31st Annual LWV Taste of Texas Wine and Beer will be held at the Price Center, 222 W. San Antonio St, on Thursday, Jan. 31 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The Hays County LWV will feature a variety of Texas wines, local area beers and a sample of hard ciders. The offerings include Becker Vineyard’s Trebbiano Harvest Reserve 2016, and their popular Viognier. From Llano Estacado tasters can enjoy a Pinot Gregio and Llano’s Cabernet/Syrah. Beer lovers will find three craft beers from Austin’s Celis Brewery, Uncle Billy’s Brewery, and North-by-NorthWest Brewery. New to the tasting are hard ciders from Austin Eastcider. There will be something for everyone!
In addition to the wine and beer tastings, there will be a silent auction featuring themed baskets as well as gift certificates for local goods and services.
Funds from this single, annual event support LWV Hays County projects. The League is well-known and appreciated for their non-partisan support of candidates and voters through county-wide debates, forums, Voters Guides that appear in local newspapers, and Vote 411, the online information source for voter information.
Tickets for the event are $20 and can be purchased from a League member, at the door on the night of the event, or online by visiting the website.
