It’s showtime! Tickets are on sale now for “Beetlejuice,” the Broadway musical comedy that will make its Austin premiere Feb. 6 - 11 as part of Texas Performing Arts Broadway in Austin series at Bass Concert Hall.
Based on the classic Tim Burton movie from 1988, “Beetlejuice” tells the story of goth misfit Lydia Deetz, a self-described strange and unusual teenager whose life changes when she meets Maitlands, the recently-decided couple who previously lived in her house. As the Maitlands attempt to reclaim their house from Lydia’s parents, they cross paths with a demon who appears any time they say his name three times.
“Beetlejuice” made its Broadway debut at Winter Garden Theatre on April 25, 2019. It won the Drama Desk Award and Outer Critics Award for David Korins’ scenic design and was nominated for Eight Tony Awards, including Best New Musical. The musical became one of the top-grossing shows in history, breaking the Winter Garden box office record and playing 366 performances before being shuttered along with the rest of Broadway in March 2020 due to the pandemic. After the lockdown lifted, the musical returned to Broadway where it continued until Jan. 8, 2023.
“Beetlejuice” will run from Feb. 6 - 11, 2024 at Bass Concert Hall in Austin, which shows on Tuesday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m.; Friday at 8 p.m.; Saturday at 2 and 8 p.m.; and Sunday at 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. (Please note the new performance times for the 2023-2024 season.)
Tickets start at $35 and are available at texasperformingarts. org and BroadwayinAustin.com, by phone at (512) 4771444, or from the Texas Performing Arts ticket office at Bass Concert Hall.
