In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Price Center is again hosting a juried art show, for women artists only, From Challenge Comes Change. In addition, the center invites men and women to participate in its newest related community art project honoring women who have made a difference in their lives.
Everyone is invited to contribute to the Price Center’s Tribute to Women who Inspire via a found or drawn image of a woman you admire or who has influenced you. To participate, find an image of a friend, family member or famous person, fictional or real. The image can be a photocopy, collage, drawing, painting, hand colored photo, magazine cut-out, etc. Then, add details through words, objects, or patterns to communicate more about this person and why you chose her.
Next, attach the image and details to 8.5 x 11 sheet of sturdy paper, such as cardstock or construction paper. Bring your creation to the Price Center by Feb. 2. The Price Center team will include contributions in a banner display for a community celebration of International Women’s Day. This project will be displayed in the Garden Room during the larger juried show, From Challenge Comes Change.
Community art shows and collaborative projects like this are made possible in part through grant funds from the San Marcos Arts Commission. Admission is free and shows are open to all daily. Proceeds from show application fees and commissions from any sales benefit the Price Center, which is operated by the Greater San Marcos Area Seniors Association (GSMASA), a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit.
