Dia del Niño, Egg Hunt set for Saturday

The Hays County Courthouse will host a combined set of events Saturday, rescheduled due to the recent inclement weather. The inaugural Día del Niño co-sponsored by Community Action, Inc. of Central Texas, Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos and Baby Day: Presented by First3Years is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Hays County Courthouse will host a combined set of events Saturday, rescheduled due to the recent inclement weather. The inaugural Día del Niño co-sponsored by Community Action, Inc. of Central Texas, Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos and Baby Day: Presented by First3Years is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Organizers said this is a celebration of the county’s children and the challenges they face. There will be approximately 37 booths and organizations involve in the event including mariachi, ballet folklorico, jumpy houses. As of the time of press, 300 children were registered.

The rescheduled Spring Egg Hunt hosted by Hays County Commissioners Court Judge Ruben Becerra will also take place on Saturday.

The egg hunt features a special golden ticket in one egg for each age group.

Age groups include: Under 5 year olds: 10 a.m. Prize gifted by Commissioner Ingalsbe.

5-7 year olds: 10:30 a.m.

Prize gifted by Commissioner Cohen.

8-10 year old: 11 a.m. Prize gifted by Commissioner Smith.

11-13 year olds: 11:30 a.m. Prize gifted by Commissioner Smith.

14-16 year olds: 12 p.m. Egg balancing contest. Prize gifted by County Judge Ruben Becerra.
