Jane Hughson to run for mayor

San Marcos City Council Member Place 4 Jane Hughson has announced that she will be running for mayor in the Nov. 6 election.

In a statement issued July 19, Hughson announced that she will file for the position of mayor on Monday.

“San Marcos has been my home for over 50 years,” the statement reads in part. “I love this town and have given much of my last 30 years to public and community service. I have learned so much from that service that I feel I can best represent San Marcos values and lead us into the next decade.”

Hughson won re-election to her council seat just last year.
