Author Donaly Brice to speak at Genealogical Society meeting
The San Marcos Hays County Genealogical Society meets four times a year and presents a variety of speakers ranging from a genealogical and family history perspective to a broader historical perspective, focusing on local history and Texas history.
This Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 120 Suncrest Ln., Donaly Brice of Lockhart will present a talk entitled “The Women at the Battle of Plum Creek.”
Brice is a long-time resident of Lockhart and is an accomplished researcher and presenter. He is a published author, perhaps his best- known book being “The Great Comanche Raid.” He belongs to numerous historical organizations and speaks extensively around the area and around the state. He spent a long career as an archivist with the Texas State Library and Archives. Brice is a graduate of Southwest Texas State University and holds a graduate degree from Sam Houston State University.
