William Ed (Bill) Slaughter was born in Corpus Christi on October 31, 1945, to Ed Winn and Carlton Daniels Slaughter. (He was very proud of his Halloween birthday.) Bill passed away on May 26, 2021, at the age of 75 with his wife Beckye and their three children by his side.

Angel “Chuy” M. Perez, 79, of San Marcos, Texas, died on Saturday, May 15, 2021. Frances Flores Patlan, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, left this life peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 16, 2021. She was a kind, gentle woman who will be remembered for her illuminating presence, her positive outlook, and her ability to find beauty in everything and everyone.

Angel “Chuy” M. Perez, 79, of San Marcos, Texas, died on Saturday, May 15, 2021. Visitation will take place on Sunday, May 23 from 4 to 5 p.m. at Thomason Funeral Home in San Marcos. A recitation of the holy rosary will take place on Sunday, May 23 at 7 p.m. at St. John the Evange list Catholic Church in San Marcos. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, May 24 at 10 a.m. at St. John’s, followed by interment at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale. Juan Manuel Cruz Sr., 70yrs., resident of San Marcos, Texas, passed away May 17, 2021 in San Marco, Tx.

Judith Arlean Dydalewicz, 86, of Dripping Springs, Texas, died on Friday, May 14, 2021. Services were held on Friday, May 21 at the St. Mary Catholic Church of Wimberley, followed by interment at the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Lydia Y. DeLeon, 74yrs., resident of San Marcos, Texas, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021 in San Marcos, Tx.

Lois Alleene Fountain, R.N. went to be with her Lord on April 19, 2020 at age 76. Though she lived in San Marcos, Texas for most of her adult life, she was born and lived in Mexico City, Mexico until the age of 15 when she moved to Corpus Christi, Texas to complete her high school education. At age three she contracted poliomyelitis and was initially fully paralyzed. Excellent medical care, especially from the Shriners Hospital for Children, led to her passion for nursing others into health and her Registered Nursing degree at Mather School of Nursing in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her first professional nursing position was at Metropolitan Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. This was followed by work in Oakland, California and then back in San Antonio at the Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston. She met and married Air Force Captain Benjamin Ellis Head, Jr. and continued living in San Antonio until her dear friend Dr. Kenneth Long hired her to work with him in San Marcos. In 1979 the Hays Memorial Hospital hired her as lead nurse in the labor and delivery department. During her 27 years at HMS, which later became Central Texas Medical Center, she served in many departments with a great passion for her work and service. Before retiring in 2006, she worked on quality assurance and oversaw the nursing peer review process. Her colleagues say she embraced the highest standards of nursing care.

Delia Arredondo, 62, of San Marcos, Texas, died on Sunday, May 16, 2021. Services took place on Thursday, May 20 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in San Marcos.
