Public schools are opening this month in Texas, just as the delta variant of COVID-19 is spreading, rapidly filling emergency beds in hospitals around the state and putting emergency care back into the overcrowded and strained predicament it was in at the beginning of the year.

While in Santa Claus, Indiana to cool off at Holiday World, the Tyree family took a side trip to tour the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial in nearby Lincoln City.
At this time last year, we were at what was then a peak in COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths, facing a pandemic that could hit every person in the state.
My family took the easy way out — again.
Leaving the state to block restrictive voting legislation isn’t any more outrageous than requiring people to wait in line for 17 hours to testify on that same legislation at 3 o’clock on a Sunday morning.
