Local transportation leaders and aviation industry officials came to San Marcos recently to talk about development of infrastructure for the future of this region, sharing that the assets and land available here offer unlimited potential for years of economic growth.

This is the second of a three part series that will be run this month highlighting the history of the Kiwanis Club of San Marcos and projects they sponsor in the community as they hold their centennial celebration.

Now in its fifth year, an art show honoring women and their art is in its final planning stages for this year’s International Women’s Day observance in San Marcos.

The San Marcos Lions Club, along with the San Marcos Bluebonnet Lions of San Marcos will host the Texas Lions Leadership Forum Feb. 25-26.

Members of the Superintendent’s Student Leadership Council met for their monthly lunch meeting on Feb.13, where they discussed qualities found in leaders.

Dog of the Week: Suzu (50134591) Suzu is an A+ companion. He’s currently living in a foster home while he completes his heartworm treatment and his foster family describes him as playful, friendly, and very affectionate. Suzu is a 4-yearold Boerboel mix who loves playing with kids, and is potty-trained and crate-trained. His favorite activities include eating lots of yummy treats and getting endless belly rubs. The San Marcos Arts Commission will host a public open house Friday, Feb. 24, 2023, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins, to showcase the designs of three finalists for a public sculpture project at Ramon Lucio Park. The public is invited and encouraged to give their feedback on the designs.

State Highway 123, also called Guadalupe Street, will be closed at the intersection of Interstate 35 through the weekend, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
