The journey south is beginning as these Monarch butterflies enjoy a brief layover in San Marcos this past Sunday. In an encore screening today at the Price Center, 222 W. San Antonio St., the acclaimed film, 'Yakona: Water Rising,' will be presented with guest appearances by directors Anlo Sepulveda and Paul Collins.

The Texas School Safety Center at Texas State University has been awarded a grant from the Department of Justice’s STOP School Violence Prevention Program in support of school behavioral threat assessment programs to provide a proactive, evidence-based approach for identifying individuals who may pose a threat and for providing interventions before a violent incident occurs.

According to the Center for Disease Control website, in the United States each year, approximately 240,000 women and 2,100 men are diagnosed with breast cancer, and approximately 42,000 women and 500 men die from it. In light of these frightening statistics and the need for greater awareness and screening, the Hays County Commissioners Court recognized October 2023 as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
