The McCoy College of Business Administration at Texas State University has announced the speaker lineup for this year’s Business Leadership Week, which began Monday and runs through Friday.
The program will feature a variety of forums and interactive events centered around the theme “Innovating for Impact.” The theme is in tandem with the university’s Common Experience program, “Innovation.”
Lorenzo Gomez III, CEO of Geekdom, one of Texas’ largest coworking spaces, and executive director of the 80/20 Foundation, a philanthropic organization dedicated to investing in the future of San Antonio, will give the keynote address at 11 a.m. today in room 119 of McCoy Hall. Gomez, who is also the author of The Cilantro Diaries, will talk about the steps and guiding principles that enabled his success.
Karen Carroll, vice president and general auditor for 3M, and Texas State Distinguished Alumna (bachelor of business administration ‘88), will deliver the first of two Studies in Entrepreneurship Distinguished Lectures at 9:30 a.m., Feb. 19 in room 119 of McCoy Hall.
Scott Emerson, founder, CEO and chair of the Emerson Group, and Texas State Distinguished Alumnus (bachelor of business administration‘75), will deliver the second of two Studies in Entrepreneurship Distinguished Lectures at 9:30 a.m., Feb. 21 in room 119 of McCoy Hall.

- McCoy Career Expo at noon, Feb. 20 in the LBJ Student Center Ballroom
- Professional Development with Linda Alkire at 5 p.m., Feb. 20 in the Minifie Academic Atrium, McCoy Hall
- The Entrepreneurial Leadership Panel will feature professionals from various backgrounds sharing their leadership experience and perspective. Panelists include Christie Barany, co-founder and president of Monkey Mat; Maggie Wickes Callahan, founder, CEO and creative director for Maggie Louise Confections; Cassidy Phillips, entrepreneur and bestselling author of Blissful Ignorance: The Art of Entrepreneurship; and Bill Poston, founder of Kalypso Group and Royal Belize, as well as a Texas State Alumni Star Award winner. The panel will take place at 11 a.m., Feb. 21 in McCoy Hall, room 233.
- Professional Development with Sylvia Kubiak at 5 p.m., Feb. 21 at 5 p.m. in the Minifie Academic Atrium, McCoy Hall, and livestreamed to Avery Hall room 455, Round Rock Campus
