San Marcos and the surrounding area could see around 1.5-2 inches of rain with Tropical Storm Hanna inching closer to the Texas coastline.
The National Weather Service is forecasting that the storm will develop into a Category 1 hurricane and is expected to make landfall near Baffin Bay Saturday morning. According to the NWS’s Austin/San Antonio office, “(Tropical Storm) Hanna is forecast to strengthen into a Category 1 Hurricane. The center of the system is forecast to move inland across South Texas Saturday night through Sunday”
The NWS added that higher amounts of rain, approximately 2-3 inches, are possible mainly in the coastal plains of Interstate 10 and east of Interstate 35. The NWS Austin/San Antonio office stated that rain amounts have decreased slightly in its northern areas bu nearly all areas see bands of showers and storms over the weekend.
As of Friday, the weather service is forecasting a 70% chance of rain for both Saturday and Sunday.
