Historical Commission members welcomed, sworn in

Historical Commission members welcomed, sworn in

At its Feb. 5 meeting, Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra swore in members of the Hays County Historical Commission. The members will serve for two years.

The all-volunteer group dedicates itself to preserving the history and culture of Hays County. Projects include developing oral history documentaries featuring long-time residents and historic documentaries representing the lives of persons who helped mold Hays County. The Commission has also worked to preserve and restore landmarks such as the Kyle Railroad Depot & Heritage Center, the Pound House in Dripping Springs, and the Old Hays County Jail in San Marcos. Volunteers also research and document historic burial sites, place historic markers, and create maps so that those interested can locate, visit, and appreciate county history.

Visit the Hays Historical Commission's website for more information about its many projects.
