Nearly a dozen Lady Rattlers were named to the Academic All-District 26-6A team for the 2020 season.
C.J. Castilla, Kaylee Cavazos, Criselda Facundo, Andrea Garcia, Kaylie Juergens, Annaleah Lombardo, Courtney Matthews, Hannah McCutcheon, Gianna Moreno, McKeanne Saenz and Bitsy Silva were all recognized for their accomplishments in the classroom. The group also helped San Marcos achieve an 11-11 overall record during the year on the field.
“I am proud of their commitment to academics,” head coach Cathy Stoughton said. “It is difficult to balance extracurricular activities and academics, especially when a lot of these girls are in advanced courses. A lot of them are also involved in multiple activities such as (Future Farmers of America), Texas Association of Future Educators, Student Leadership, Powerlifting, Volleyball, National Hispanic Scholar, National Honor Society, Wrestling, and Band. The 2020 team is one of the most well-rounded group of young ladies I have ever coached!”
