Trustees to mull bond election at Monday meeting

A potential decision on what to do for a new central office, including the possibility of a bond election, is on the San Marcos CISD board of trustees’ agenda for a special called meeting on Monday.

The meeting, which will begin at 5 p.m., will include agenda prep for the board’s next regular meeting. However, the agenda includes a presentation and possible action on central administration and an action item to call a bond election in the district.

At the board’s last regular meeting, discussion of a new central office building included the possibility of building a new facility on district property on Hunter Road, near several other district departments, for a cost of about $4.6 million, and the possibility of holding a bond election and asking SMCISD voters for $8 million for a new central office.

Monday’s meeting will be held in the Criminal Justice Classroom at San Marcos High School, 2601 Rattler Road. The meeting will also be streamed online on the district’s You-Tube channel.
