Dr. Robert Donnelly and San Marcos Gentle Dental will host its 6th annual Dentistry From The Heart-For the Love of Chance event – providing a free day of dental care at Gentle Dental, 1337 Thorpe Lane.
A growing number of Americans lack dental insurance, and at last year’s event 70 people were provided with free dentistry totaling more than $30,000. This year’s goal is to serve even more.
The event will take place on Friday, Feb. 15, with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. with care provided from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Dentistry From The Heart patients travel from across Texas every year to attend these events which provide free dentistry to those in need.
In 2001, Dentistry From The Heart started with Florida dentist Dr. Vincent Monticciolo as a way to give back to the community and provide aid to the growing number of Americans without dental insurance. Since its inception, Dentistry From The Heart has grown to include over 200 annual events nationwide and provided more than 45,000 people with free dental care services.
At this year’s event the participating dentists will include: J. Robert Donnelly, D.D.S., Andres Arismendi, D.D.S., and Charles Reeves, D.D.S. Along with the dentists there will be three hygienists and numerous volunteers ensuring that the event will be a success. The team of dentists, hygienists, volunteers and sponsors will provide either a free extraction, filling or cleaning.
“It all comes down to wanting to provide something greater to my community,” Donnelly said. “The services provided by Dentistry From The Heart helps more than just a patient’s teeth, it gives them a renewed reason to smile.”
