Texas State fell to Presbyterian College, 4-3, on Friday inside Bobcat Tennis Complex.
The Bobcats received a 6-2 doubles victory from sophomore Rishona Israel-Lewis and freshman Josefina Cassara over Tracy Johnson and Samantha Calais.
Presbyterian College evened the team score at 1-1 after Texas State senior Joy Chia Ming Ming and sophomore Andrea Fuchs lost 6-3.
The Bobcats’ doubles team of senior Ana Perez and senior Julia Navajo-Melendez fell 7-5, which gave Presbyterian College the doubles point.
Texas State won three of its first four singles play decisions. First, Navajo-Melendez defeated Calais 6-2, 6-3.
Bobcats’ Chia Ming Ming lost her singles match 6-3, 6-4.
Perez fell behind 3-0 in her first set. But she earned the final six of seven points to win the opening set. Perez won the second set, 6-2.
Texas State gained a 3-2 team lead when Israel-Lewis won her match against Johnson, 6-4, 6-4.
Presbyterian won the contest when the Bobcats’ Fuchs lost her match against Katie Thompson, 6-3, 6-3, and Cassar lost 7-5, 6-2.
Texas State was set to host Prairie View A&M on Sunday but the match was canceled due to court wetness. The Bobcats take on Northwestern State on Feb. 10 at 11 a.m.
