SMHS Swim Team members medal, advance

Two members of the San Marcos High School Swim Team medaled at the recent UIL District 25-6A competition. The medals were the first to be won by the team since the San Marcos CISD was moved from 5A to 6A.

Jami Wendel, a sophomore, took 3rd place in the 50 freestyle and  Sydnie Counley, a senior, won 6th place in the 100 free.

Swim team members advancing to regionals include Counley, Fallon Sheffield, Wendel,  Bianca Velasquez, Andrew Crowder, Koby Whited, Zachary Schwartz and Michael Gruver in the 200 medley relay; Counley, Maggie McMains, Sheffield, Wendel, Schwartz, Whited, Ferrell Linebarger and Crowder in the 200 free relay; and Gruver, Schwartz, Linebarger and Crowder in the 400 free relay.

Counley set a new school record in the 200 free and Schwartz set one in the 100 breaststroke.
