‘Visioning’ projects are up for review

‘Visioning’ projects are up for review

The San Marcos City Council will review the visioning workshop they conducted earlier this year and discuss their Fiscal Year 2019-2020 priorities at a work session at 3 p.m. today.

Council will hold a discussion of the strategic initiatives adopted for FY 2018-2019, review steps taken toward the city’s goals, and discuss the city’s strategic initiatives and priorities for FY 2019-2020. The city’s initiatives for 2018-2019 were workforce housing, public transit, stormwater management, community partnerships and city facilities. The draft of strategic initiatives for 2019-2020 has some overlap, with workforce housing and city facilities remaining priorities, but the new list of initiatives includes multimodal transportation, workforce development and downtown vitalization.

Council will also hear a presentation and hold a discussion about “Coordinated Transit Plan Phase II,” the work in progress that will seamlessly integrate the university’s public transit system with the city’s to provide better access for all residents.

Council will meet for its work session at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the City Hall Conference Room before going into its regular meeting at 6 p.m. in council chambers. City council meetings are also televised live on Spectrum Ch. 10 and Grande Ch. 16 or 123-16 and streamed online.
