For a fifth consecutive year, local musicians are invited to submit their music videos for a community-wide showcase, held at the historic honkytonk Cheatham Street Warehouse, on March 3.
"Music Flicks in the '666" — named in tribute to our zip code, but incorporating submissions from the region more broadly —spans various genres and is co-hosted by KTSW 89.9 FM.
Already the roster of music videos includes new content from Attic Ted, Chief & theDoomsdayDevice, Marshall Anderson, Furly Travis and more.
Submissions will be accepted until Feb 29, sent as a MP4 to [email protected].
A total of $200 in cash prizes is on the line for the top three vote getters, determined by audience ballot the night of the event. There, music videos will be interspersed with live performances from Rusty Dusty, Holiday Indians and a debut set from And They're Deadly.
All proceeds from the $5 entry will benefit Lost River Film Fest, set to transpire Nov 5-8, 2020 — with new, independent cinema shown in venues across downtown San Marcos, for a fourth year.
Music Flicks in the '666 is made possible through funding from the San Marcos Arts Commission.
Cinema Club will also screen the award-winning documentary "13th" on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Cephas House, chronicling the link between antebellum slavery and mass incarceration today, as City Council prepares to address SMPD's Cite and Release policies on the March 3 agenda.
