Sophomore forward Da’Nasia Hood was selected as the Sun Belt Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Hood scored a career-high 28 points on Saturday, leading to Texas State’s first Sun Belt victory of the season, defeating UT Arlington at home, 72-55. The San Antonio native went a perfect 7-7 behind the arc while also adding seven rebounds, three assists and one steal during the contest.
“(I was) just staying patient through the offense,” Hood said after Saturday’s win. “You know, we're going to move the ball, so when I had my open looks, I just do my job and finish the shot.”
It’s Hood’s first time being recognized for a weekly award by the league. The sophomore is currently leading the Bobcats with 13.3 points per game and is second on the team with 6.0 boards per game.
Texas State (8-12, 1-8 conference) will host Coastal Carolina (17-3, 7-2) inside Strahan Arena at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
