The Commissioners Court of Hays County is set to announce Feb. 4, 2020 as Karen Chisum Day, honoring the long-time Texas State Volleyball coach.
Chisum coached the Bobcats for 40 seasons before retiring on Dec. 9, 2019, leading the maroon and gold to nine regular season conference championships, 11 conference tournament championships and an NCAA tournament victory.

The University announced its plan to hang a banner inside Strahan Arena later this year recognizing Chisum’s 919 career wins on Saturday during the halftime of the men’s basketball team’s game against Louisiana. Chisum, joined by multiple Texas State coaches and officials, was also presented with a rocking chair during the ceremony.
