San Marcos fundraiser for Wimberley girl

San Marcos fundraiser for Wimberley girl

Tessa Hinds is a bright, 7-year-old girl, that is, just like any other 7-year-old with one exception. She has been diagnosed with Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome. Often referred to as KTS, Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome is a rare disorder that affects the development of blood vessels, soft tissue and bones, which can be very painful.

“She was misdiagnosed when it was a small formation. Now it has gotten a lot bigger and she needs an operation,” her father Preston Hinds said. “She is always so happy and positive. She is a sweet little girl and she is taking it well. But it is nerve wracking and scary.”

In order to pay for the operation, there will be a benefit Garage Sale and barbecue at Wimberley Towing, which has a store front in San Marcos at 1820 Dara Lane, to help pay the cost of the surgery.  In order to help, you can donate gently used items and purchase new-to-you items at the sale. BBQ plates will be available for $10 with brisket, beans and potato salad with all the fixin’s. All proceeds will go directly to Tessa’s medical bills.

“After seeing the posts on Facebook (Sunday night) Tessa was very excited. She is real appreciative of everyone helping her,” Hinds said.

The garage sale and barbecue will be on Feb. 9 at Wimberley Towing, 1820 Dara Lane in San Marcos. That is also where you can leave donated items for the sale Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
