Laura Hazel Britt Tallant Franklin, a recent resident of Dripping Springs, Texas, died Tuesday, December 10, 2019. She was born on March 27, 1932, in Oran, Missouri, the daughter of Clarence and Mary Grindstaff Britt.
She graduated from Risco High School May 17, 1950; attended The Jewish Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, Missouri, graduating September 4, 1954, and earned her B.A. from Southwest Texas State University December 19, 1971, where she was elected Alpha Chi in 1969. She joined the Air Force as a nurse and served for four years stateside, retiring to raise her family. She owned

and operated The Uniform Shop, 2525 IH-35 South in San Marcos, Texas, for 25 years.
She married Dr. Arthur Nilon Tallant in May, 1958, divorced 1984; and married Jerry Franklin in 1986, divorced 1993.
She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Ann Tourish, son-in-law, John Tourish, granddaughter, Lauren Tourish, her son, Douglas Wayne Tallant, her daughter, Laurie Ruth Tallant, and her sisters, Mary Adams, Shirley McCabe and Helen Wright.
The family wishes to give a heartfelt thank you for the excellent care our mother received at Ledgestone Senior Living Community in Austin, Texas, and to the attentive staff of Magnolia Hospice. A special warm hug goes to hospice nurse, Melissa Huff, RN, who was Mom’s guardian angel for her last days.
