Sophomore Emily DeWalt earned another Sun Belt Setter of the Week award, the conference announced on Monday, bringing her total for the season up to three.
DeWalt posted 35 assists, six digs and four blocks in a 3-0 sweep over Little Rock (6-20, 4-10 conference) last Friday. She followed up with 46 assists, 10 digs and a block on Saturday in a 3-1 victory against Arkansas State (15-11, 6-8) — her 11th career double-double. The setter also swung for a .364 hitting percentage with six kills and two errors on 11 attempts through the two home matches.
The San Antonio Brandeis graduate’s efforts against the Red Wolves helped Texas State (21-8, 13-2) clinch as share of the Sun Belt’s regular season title for the second-straight year. DeWalt is now averaging 10.17 assists per set for the season. It’s the third time in four week DeWalt was recognized with the weekly plaudit.
The Bobcats have a chance to win the league title outright in the regular season finale on Friday when the team hosts UT Arlington (16-11, 8-7) inside Strahan Arena.
